Recently, LHS 7th graders wrapped up a unit focused on learning about the intricacies of ecosystems and how the dynamics of a properly balanced food chain means sustainability for all living things. Students examined the Yellowstone ecosystem and learned about the impact that removing the wolves had there. Students investigated data and applied their understanding to also gauge the impact the reintroduction of the wolves has had in Yellowstone park. To further show their understanding of these topics students were tasked with creating a a shoebox biorama modeling certain biomes. Students had to show a potential food web as well as biotic and abiotic factors found in that biome. Along with some written explanations, this creative work was displayed for others to view. Great job, 7th graders!
